Development and road approval.
mbDESIGN developed a forged magnesium wheel for road use, tested it to the procedures required for road wheels and obtained German road approval (KBA) in 2018.
Within the program, the MF1 and MF2 wheel designs were established – forged from AZ80.
Since 2018
Road operation as the test bench.
Since approval, the wheels have been in continuous road operation. Corrosion behaviour, coating durability and fatigue performance are observed and documented under real conditions – across seasons, road surfaces and load profiles.

Development programs.
Forged magnesium is part of the mbDESIGN engineering portfolio. Development programs follow the established mbDESIGN process: concept, design and simulation, prototyping, pre-series – and where required, series production.
